Ten rooms under Xibalba. A bat that took everything. A guard that covers you completely — and costs you if you raise it late.

Wingcage is a top-down pixel-art action game about spacing and timing.

Every enemy telegraphs. Every mistake costs a heart, and you only get four.

The two defenses

The dash takes you out of the way, but its i-frames are shorter than a bat's charge — you have to dodge on contact, not in advance. It runs on stamina, so it is a resource, not a habit.

The guard is a bubble: it covers every angle, and that is the trade. Blocking late leaves you stunned and shoved back. Parry in the first six frames and the attacker gets thrown back instead.

What's down there

Ten houses and passages, each with its own bestiary — darters that charge, splitters that leave young, jaguars that hit on contact, fixed turrets with clean lines of fire — and Camazotz at the bottom, in three phases.

Kill four in a row and you go into fury: crimson glow, sword hits at 1.5x. It falls off in 2.5 seconds, so you hold it by fighting, not by saving it.

Break crystal veins for XP. Spend it on sword, speed, dash or guard. Five relics change a rule outright, and they are hidden, not given.

If itch.io's editor strips the `` (it does on some themes), swap that block for a plain list:

  • WASD / Arrows — Move
  • J — Attack (tap twice to combo)
  • Hold J — Heavy attack
  • K — Dash, invulnerable frames 1–9, three charges
  • Hold L — Guard, the first 6 frames parry
  • E — Interact
  • U — Skills, relics and map (Q/E cycles tabs)
  • M — Mute
  • R — Back to checkpoint (Shift+R restarts the run)
